This car is the GS (non-turbo) model with the larger 2.4 L engine and now has 140,000 miles on it . The owners manual says to change the first one around 60k - I did that one on time. But, then I've heard that the parts that are put in at 60k last alot longer than the originals. How long should they last? And, when do I need to change the timing belt %26amp; water pump again? Thank you!How long should the Second timing belt %26amp; water pump last on a '98 Mitsubishi Eclipse? It's time for replacing another timing belt and water pump, the sooner the better. This should have been done at 120,000 miles. You should go with what the owner's manual says if you want to keep your car for a long time. when timing belts breaks, rods and pistons will be F***** and you will have to dole out lots of dough. spend a little now or a lot later. to avoid being double charged for labor when replacing timing belt you should consider changing water pump too as water pump and timing belt are located in the same area. How long should the Second timing belt %26amp; water pump last on a '98 Mitsubishi Eclipse?I would definately consider replacing the timing belt soon. Japanese cars normaly need the timing changed sooner than other autos. The enginse are made of lighter metals so if the timing breaks it will bend up your rods and dent up your pistons which is really expensive and time consuming to get fixed. It is better and cheaper to be safe and early than the alternative. Not sure about the water pump however.
Good luck. How long should the Second timing belt %26amp; water pump last on a '98 Mitsubishi Eclipse? It's best to do the timing belt every 60,000 miles as called for in the vehicle maintenance charts. I would replace the water pump at 120,000 miles if it makes it that long. Don't forget to change the timing belt pulleys and hydraulic tensioner which I prefer to do every belt change to avoid come backs. The 420A motor is well known for the bad head gasket design from the Chrysler factory so make sure to check for oil leaks before doing the work or you will have to repeat the belt work when replacing the head gasket.

How hard is it to change a timing belt on a 94 cavalier?
Replacing the timing belt on a 1994 Calvalier is not to difficult if you have experience with timing belt replacment. If this is your first time doing this you will need to make sure you have the following tools.
Chain wrench
1/2 breaker bar
metric wrenches
floor jack
The chain wrench is used to hold the Crank Shaft pulley in place so that you can undo the bolt that retains the pulley.
Make sure you line up the crank pulley with the 0 timing mark before dissambley. Then remove the belt or belts then the motor mount and the timing cover. Then remove the timing belt tensioner line up the camshaft pulley to the timing mark on the head then install the new belt reinstall the tensioner. and put it all back together. How hard is it to change a timing belt on a 94 cavalier?if you are not familiar with this task you should contact a repair shopHow hard is it to change a timing belt on a 94 cavalier?Only the 3.1 V6 model has a timing belt and this one is definately one of those %26quot;if you have to ask...%26quot; scenario's.How hard is it to change a timing belt on a 94 cavalier? If you know what you doing: Not difficult

I have a 1995 Toyota Lucida that is probably overdue a timing belt change. Where is the timing belt...?
Where is the timing belt on the Lucida and how labour intensive is it to change?I have a 1995 Toyota Lucida that is probably overdue a timing belt change. Where is the timing belt...?You need to get yourself a repair manual (Haynes, Mitchell, or Chilton's) are all good manuals. There about $25.00 at your local auto parts store. Read through it a little and see if you have the tools and mechanical capabilities to perform this procedure. I'm thinking if you don't know where it is, it might be better to take it to a professional. Although if you feel like it's something you want to tackle, a repair manual is a must because it will tell you how to line up the cam and crank when you install the new belt. This is probably a job for at least and intermediate mechanic. GOOD LUCK!!!I have a 1995 Toyota Lucida that is probably overdue a timing belt change. Where is the timing belt...?I believe in the US the Previa is the same as the Lucida, I might be wrong though. I had to do a head gasket on one once and I had to remove the engine from the vehicle to change it. This was a couple of years ago but I seem to remember it had a timing chain not a belt. Again I have heard people say the Previa (its a little van) is called a Lucida in other countries. If its the same vehicle its not too bad if you have the equipment to remove the engine first.

this is very high. reason is honda wants to make their cars sound like they don't need lotsa maintenance.
I usually recommend 80,000 miles no matter what.
you don't need to goto the dealer for this, any repair shop can do a timing belt job.Timing Belt change for a honda civic?i have always heard 80,000 miles, and given the fact that it is an interference engine, i would not push my luck. i dont think that freeway or around town makes any difference in this situation.
